Stillife - Commission
Drawn from photographs of the clients beautiful, villa style, Mount Eden home. She wanted a lasting memento of this specific moment in time, to encapsulate the significance of this scene as each item represents something special to her. The aim for this piece was to try and capture the different textures, materials and tones of the still life. The contrast between the oaky Japanned style, glossy, lacquered, box (inherited from her Grandmother who used it as a sewing box) and the silver, metallic heavy grating in the background. In contrast with the light, natural Orchids in the foreground (which interesting haven’t flowered since the photos were taken). It was a challenge, due to the level of detail and the interesting perspective but I am proud of the final results! Currently at the framers for final reveal.
Acrylic and watercolour on watercolour paper 297 x 420mm.
