Power Jacket

The Lake House Arts Centre, Takapuna organised a group exhibition featuring 35 Female Artists. The #PowerJacket exhibition marked the 125th anniversary of woman’s suffrage in New Zealand, with 20% of all proceeds donated to Women's Refuge New Zealand.

Grace’s entry ‘Subterfuge’ was a design based on a collage theme encompassing strong, modern media imagery. There is a juxtaposition between the powerful, unattainable perfection in consumer society and the reality of everyday women’s lives. This suggested private or hidden pain and confusion, which is unresolved. There is beauty in both scenarios, the pretty glossy, sterile imagery and the opposing reality.’
